General discription of Rugby.Rugby is played at a fast pace, with few stoppages and continuous possession changes. All players on the field, regardless of position, must be able to run, pass, kick and catch the ball. Likewise, All players must also be able to tackle and defend, making each position both offensive and defensive in nature. There is no blocking of the opponents like in football, and there are only five substitutions per game allowed for each team. A rugby match consists of two 40-minute halves. Finally, rugby is considered to be a gender equity sport as approximately 25% of all players in the United States are female.

You will definitely want to wear a mouth guard when playing rugby. Not only does it help protect your teeth but it also reduces the chance of getting a concussion. A double or triple density mouth guard is best. Usually a football mouth guard without a helmet strap is a good choice.
Step 2
When you dress for rugby you will need to select a pair of cleats. In the world of rugby these are known as boots. The main restriction is that the cleats cannot have a toe cleat. You can buy soccer cleats for rugby, or football cleats. Often if you but football cleat you will have to cut off the toe cleat. Metal stud cleats are preferred.
Step 3
Rugby shorts are also a key component of the rugby dress. The shorts are made of a canvas material and are extremely durable. You will definitely not want to wear any other athletic shorts. Often your team will have a certain color they wear so ask before you buy.
Step 4
The last part of a rugby kit is the socks. These are usually knee length cotton socks in team colors. Again you should ask you coach or captain so you can get the right color.
Step 5
There is some optional protective equiptment as well like padded scrum caps, or shoulder pads. You cannot wear a cup as part of rugby, so I would suggest a pair of compression shorts.

Rugby is often called "the game for animals played by gentlemen." The game has evolved into two main forms, rugby union and rugby league, with their own distinct ways to play. Rugby union is commonly played in Europe especially England, while rugby league is popular in Australia and New Zealand.
Assemble two teams of fifteen players each. There are eight forwards, who mainly get possession of the ball, and seven backs who mainly carry and move the ball.
Start play with the defensive team kicking the ball to the offensive team. Run with the ball until tackled. You may also pass or kick the ball to a team mate, but you cannot pass the ball forward.

so i've been watching verdugo football players practice and i feel very bad for them, they have two different practices they have practice till 6 and in this super hot heat...i'm actually very excited to see the new football team for this year i'm hoping they are good and worth cheering for! Because i know i like cheering but not for a loosing team keeps my school spirit bad. I learned that football players can use soccer cleats to play football cause its lighter and better for them. Some football perfer soccer cleats and some football players perfer football cleats. Also they're different kind of shoes for each position you play which is pretty amusing.

So i finally kind of found out how football got its name from askville.amazon.com
so basically there are a couple of possible etymologies behind the word football.
The first is that the word comes from a game played by striking a ball with a foot.
The other is that football refers to games played on foot as opposed to games played on horseback.
Football got its name because in soccer the hands cannot be used.
American football is derived from rugby, which is another form of football popular in England (in addition to soccer).
Many believe that the word "football" originated in reference to the action of a foot kicking a ball.
A form of football called harpaston was first played by the ancient GREEKS! (:
